Event Type: Adults Age Group(s): Adults Date: 5/22/2017 Start Time: 6:30 PM End Time: 8:30 PM Description: Joe Willis, Orleans Parish Assistant Extension Agent for the LSU Ag Center, will discuss the benefits and practicality of keeping honeybees as a hobby. He grew up on a farm in rural North Carolina before obtaining his bachelor’s degree in botany from North Carolina State University and a doctoral degree from the University of California Riverside in plant pathology. He has worked as a research scientist, then as a horticulturist and plant health manager for Princeton Nurseries, as well as greenhouse manager at Rutgers University before coming to New Orleans.

The goal of the Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans is to increase the public’s love for and knowledge of gardening and responsible stewardship of the environment. Serving Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes, the Master Gardeners of Greater New Orleans helps the LSU AgCenter meet the educational needs of home gardeners in our community while providing enjoyable, worthwhile service experience for our members.
