The speaker is Mohamad Qayoom, Network and Security Analyst, LSU Health Sciences Center on current IT related activity. Qayoom has more than 10 years of professional Information Technology experience with the last seven of those years at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans in the IT department. He possesses a flexible portfolio of information systems management and services developed through hands-on architectural expertise in installation, configuration, and maintenance of WAN/LAN, routers, switches, load balancers, IPS/IDS appliances, and firewalls. He has implemented projects of all sizes, scope, and diversity, including hardware, software, voice, data, and equipment. He currently is accountable for creating projects consistent with engineering best practices, providing 3rd-level operational support, delivering solutions to increase network resiliency, conducting technology assessment, product and supplier selection, vendor negotiations, requirements analysis, and advanced hardware/software solutions to meet business requirements. He has been recognized by executive administrators, staff, clients, vendors, and customers for leadership, accountability, and the ability to get the results.

Qayoom is at the forefront of developing a top-quality IT workforce. He teaches courses in networking, security, and project management. He mentors high school students who participate in the CyberPatriot program. He teaches boot camp classes for various IT certifications exams. Mohamad has served on the on the board of University of New Orleans International Association where he was a member of the Student Success committee.

Mohamad holds a BS in Computer Science, a BS in Mathematics, an MS in Computer Science, and an MS in Engineering Management. He has been a member of the following organizations: Golden Key Honors Society, Phi Kappa Phi, Association of Computing Machinery, Project Management Institute, Toastmasters International, and Louisiana Technology Council. Some of the current certifications that Qayoom possesses are CISSP, PMP, CCNA, ITIL, Security+, and Network+.
