Dr. Matrana’s presentation occurs as part of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission which has met at the library for more than a decade. This event is free of charge and is open to the public. Dr. Marc Matrana divides his time between a busy medical career and researching and writing about the history and architecture of the South. He began writing his first book, Lost Plantation: The Rise and Fall of Seven Oaks while an undergraduate at Tulane and finished it during his medical school at LSU in New Orleans. He started his second book, Lost Plantations of the South shortly thereafter, finishing it during his internal medicine residency at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Marc R Matrana, MD, is a hematology/oncology specialist in New Orleans. He attended and graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2006. He is affiliated with many hospitals including Ochsner Medical Center, Ochsner Medical Center - Northshore, Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner, and Ochsner St Anne General Hospital.
