Event for Writers: "Setting" with Elizabeth Desimone | |
|
|
Event Type: Adults Age Group(s): Adults Date: 4/5/2017 Start Time: 7:00 PM End Time: 8:30 PM Description: Elizabeth Desimone, a writer and creative writing instructor, will discuss setting for budding authors at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie. Every story occurs in some place, at some time. Settings are important to readers because a setting can set the parameters for a story. Even without knowing the plot of a story, being given the location is enough that readers start to make assumptions about characters and events. Castles and condos, ranches and rainforests, the setting gives a reader clues about the characters and their motives. In 2012, Desimone received her MFA in fiction-writing from Oklahoma State University. Her work has appeared in Cricket magazine and on BustedHalo.com. She’s been working on a young adult fantasy series for the past five years.
