Kevin McCaffrey, a documentary film producer who lives and works in New Orleans, will screen his most recent film, “Finding Common Ground,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

The screening is free of charge and open to the public. There is no registration.

“Finding Common Ground” focuses on critical river diversion projects within Louisiana’s Comprehensive Masterplan for a Sustainable Coast. New projects include the engineering and design of two major sediment diversions along the Lower Mississippi River that, once constructed, will build, sustain and maintain thousands of acres of vulnerable coastal wetlands in Louisiana.

McCaffrey is winner of the 2012 Louisiana Humanities Documentary of the Year Award, a 2014 national Telly Award, a James Beard Award finalist in broadcast media, and a writer, editor, oral historian, publisher, reviewer and consultant, with a long history of both commercial and volunteer service and collaboration.

McCaffrey is owner of e/Prime Media LLC, specializing in research and media products relating to culture, history, environment and design in Louisiana and around the rim of the Gulf of Mexico. e/Prime has completed research work for the State of Louisiana, produced video for clients such as The Historic New Orleans Collection, the Louisiana State Museum, The New Orleans Museum of Art, Newcomb College Institute at Tulane University, Galatoire’s Restaurant and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Along with co-producer Dr. Bob Thomas, the Director of the Loyola University Center for Environmental Communications, he produced a documentary film in 2013 entitled “MRGOing, Going, Gone?” on environmental discourse and the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet shipping channel. This documentary was awarded a national 2014 Telly Award for editing, judged by professional TV peers. They also produced together an online video report of interviews with scientists studying the effects of the BP Oil Spill on the northern Gulf of Mexico habitat.

His 2009 documentary television program, “We Live To Eat: New Orleans’ Love Affair With Food,” produced for The Historic New Orleans Collection, was a finalist for a national James Beard Award in broadcast media after airing on WYES and Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
