She lives in the Fun House with her fiancé, Boss Bones, a dapper (and greedy) skeleton. Florence, the little girl who is the hero of the tale enters the Fun House to save her pet Cockatoo, after the Laughing Lady steals it. Florence, whose real father died several years ago, has a problem. Her mother wants to marry a rich man that Florence hates. Amid many adventures, Florence and her friends (including a shy skyrocket) discovers the answer to her real life problem. The book is accompanied by full-color illustrations. Dalt Wonk was born in New Jersey in 1942. He attended Bard College, where he graduated with a B. A. After living a decade in France and England, he set sail on a cargo ship for New Orleans, where he has lived ever since. Wonk is a poet, a playwright and an illustrator. His plays have been produced in New York, London, Munich, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and New Orleans. His musical collaborators in theater have included Charles Neville (of the Neville Brothers), Julius Hemphill (of the World Saxophone Quartet) and Alvin Batiste, the late New Orleans Jazz composer. Bob Bruce and David Cuthbert, Cinderella Battistella With a wave of Mother LeRoux’s gris-gris stick, New Orleans culture and Cajun characters bring new life to the familiar Cinderella fairy tale. Down in the Marigny, Cinderella Battistella is left alone while her wicked stepmama and hideous stepsisters rush off to the Twelfth Night Ball to steal the prince’s heart. Cinderella Battistella takes the traditional Cinderella story and sets it in New Orleans with a Cajun flare along with a Louisiana Swamp with crawfish, shrimp, gumbo, and a King Cake. Bob Bruce and David Cuthbert first produced their Southern version of Cinderella as a stage play. Since the 1970s, they have coauthored more than a dozen plays that have been performed all over the country. Bruce has worked as a scenery and costume designer for the New Orleans Recreation Department as well as for theaters around the city, including Le Petit and Rivertown Repertory Theater. Bob Bruce and David Cuthbert first produced their Southern version of Cinderella as a stage play. Since the 1970s, they have coauthored more than a dozen plays that have been performed all over the country. Cuthbert worked for more than forty years for the New Orleans Times-Picayune as a reporter, reviewer, and feature writer. Cornell Landry, Goodnight New Orleans Goodnight NOLA is a tribute to things unique to New Orleans, a rhythmic salute to red beans and rice, po'boys, celebrated chefs, music, historic landmarks, the sporting scene and many other features of the Crescent City. Cornell P. Landry graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans with a degree in Business Administration. He works in the television and film industry and resides in Greater New Orleans with his wife, Christen, and two daughters, Bailey and Corinne. They prompted him to create this book about his hometown.
