James Linn, curator at the National World War II Museum, will present “The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II,” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

Linn’s presentation occurs as part of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Jefferson Parish Historical Society. This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

A New Orleans native, Linn first became involved with the institution when it was known as The National D-Day Museum. It was 2001 and he was an eighth-grade volunteer on weekends and during the summer.

Linn attended the University of New Orleans, earning his bachelor of art degree in history in 2011 and a master of arts in public history in 2016. His master's thesis, “Supplying the Asia-Pacific Theater: United States Logistics and the American Merchant Marine in World War II” focused on the movement of men, ships, and material across the Pacific during World War II.

Linn joined the National WWII Museum staff in 2014 and serves as a curator. In addition to leading tours at the museum in New Orleans and abroad, and working on the museum's permanent exhibits, Linn recently curated the museum's special exhibit: “The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II.”
