Genealogy Class - Searching Immigration Records

 Gwen Kelley, a librarian who specializes in genealogy and local history, will lead a seminar for family researchers that describes how to use immigration records at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at the West Bank Regional Library, 2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

Immigration records, also known as "ship passenger arrival records," may provide genealogists with information such as:
• one's nationality, place of birth
• ship name and date of entry to the United States
• age, height, eye and hair color
• profession
• place of last residence
• name and address of relatives they are joining in the U.S.
• amount of money they are carrying, etc.
