College Survival 101

 Carol Langston, PhD, retired director of College Guidance at Metairie Park Country Day School, will discuss “College Survival 101” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

Langston will discuss strategies for success, including the following tips.

• Don't freak out about picking a major.
• Don't skip class.
• Communicate with instructors.
• Step outside of your comfort zone to try new things.
• Learn to manage your time.
• Get plenty of sleep.
• Develop self-confidence.

Carol Langston is the owner of Langston Educational Consulting. She has served as a College Board essay consultant, an AP Spanish reader, and has authored a chapter in a college counseling textbook that is used to certify counselors as college counselors.
