Description:
“College and Career Night” with curriculum facilitator Renee Hartley will occur at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public.

“College and Career Night” will be for any high school student and his/her parents to discuss life after high school, and it will include both college and career planning. The different pathways to high school graduation will be discussed, including the different degree and non-degree programs that are currently in Louisiana schools. Parents and students will leave knowing where to go and how to find information regarding grants, scholarships and student loans.

Hartley also will discuss technical schools, community colleges, and colleges and universities and what is needed and how to apply to any of them. She says that not even 50 percent of graduating seniors attend colleges or universities, leaving a large amount of the population stuck wondering what they are going to do with their lives.

Renee Hartley holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. She has a wide range of experience including writing curriculum and assessments, leadership training, teacher development, dual enrollment, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning.

She is a Curriculum Facilitator for St. James Parish and owner of Renee’ Hartley Consulting. She provides support for middle and high school administrators, counselors, teachers, and students in St. James Parish as well as provides ACT Prep classes and other educational consulting throughout the state with her consulting business.

Hartley has presented several workshops and trainings at local, state and national conferences. Some of her experience includes holding the position as a Network Support Specialist for Jefferson Parish Public School System as well as the Louisiana Department of Education where she supported and managed many programs ranging from grades K-12.
