Genealogy Class - Genealogy and Google

 Gwen Kelley, a librarian who specializes in genealogy and local history, will lead a seminar for family researchers that describes how to use Google at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

In addition to the ability to search for names and places, Google offers several genealogy-friendly tools. Google Translate helps translate text and websites into or out of English. Google Books includes an online library of out-of-print resources such as local histories and compiled genealogies. Google Maps and Google Earth helps locate ancestral addresses.
