 Poppy Tooker, cookbook author and host of the WWNO Radio Show Louisiana Eats, will discuss her new cookbook, Drag Queen Brunch, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon. Metairie.

This event is co-sponsored by the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival, an annual five-day literary festival that occurs in the city of New Orleans each spring. The festival is dedicated to the Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright Tennessee Williams. Every year, it features several events related to the long career of Williams, as well as writing workshops, panel discussions, literary readings, stage performances, a book fair, music, writing contests, and other events.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public.

The book consists of recipes for world-renowned brunch dishes, and it is filled with photos of glamorous divas.

Louisiana Eats, the WWNO weekly radio show produced and hosted by Poppy Tooker takes listeners into the fields, the waters, the markets and kitchens to hear from the people who maintain the state’s storied food traditions and create new culinary magic inspired by the wealth of Louisiana’s food culture.

Tooker contributes food commentary on WYES, the New Orleans PBS affiliate's weekly arts and entertainment show, Steppin' Out. She has shared the screen with television celebrities such as Extreme Cuisine’s Jeff Corwin, Foodography’s Mo Rocca, and Bobby Flay, with whom she participated in a seafood gumbo throwdown on his Food Network show. She won.

Tooker is author of numerous cookbooks, including: Crescent City Farmer’s Market Cookbook; Madame Begue’s Creole Recipes of Old New Orleans; Tujaque’s Cookbook; Pascal Manale’s Cookbook; and the Louisiana Eats! Cookbook which won the Louisiana Literary Award in 2013, by the Louisiana Library Association.
