Music Talk! Bruce Spizer on the Paul McCartney Death Rumor

Event Type: Adults
Age Group(s): Adults
Date: 11/21/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:30 PM
Description:
Bruce Spizer, a local lawyer and an internationally recognized expert on The Beatles, will discuss “The Paul McCartney Death Rumor” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

During the presentation, Spizer will discuss the following:
• What caused millions of Americans in 1969 to believe that Paul McCartney had died in an automobile crash in 1966?
• Did the Beatles participate in the hoax to make fans believe Paul had died?
• What is the local connection to the McCartney death rumor? (Because there is one and it is significant.)

Bruce Spizer’s latest book, The Beatles Get Back to Abbey Road, was published two months ago and includes information about the McCartney death rumor and the local connection. It covers all of the records released by the Beatles in 1969, from “Get Back” onward. Although the group’s January 1969 recordings would eventually be issued on Let It Be in May 1970, Abbey Road would be the last album recorded by the Beatles.

Spizer has written more than one dozen books that focus on the Beatles.
