 “Mother’s Day Bus Crash on 610,” a documentary by Loyola faculty member Royd Anderson, will be screened at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26. 22, at the West Bank Regional Library, 2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public. It occurs as part of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission.

The crash, which occurred on Mother’s Day, 1999, involved a bus carrying residents of a LaPlace retirement home to Mississippi Gulf Coast casinos. The bus ran off Interstate 610 near City Park; 22 people died and 19 others were injured.

It remains the deadliest vehicle crash in Louisiana history.
The film contains news footage as well as interviews with eyewitnesses and the victim's families. It explores the causes of the crash and looks at what has changed since then.
