Reine Dugas, PhD, Why Writers Should Journal

According to Dr. Dugas, journal writing allows writers to document experiences and thoughts and use them to identify future goals and aims. Writing down even everyday experiences helps in identifying various mistakes that have been made or decisions that have proven to be unfruitful.

During this presentation, Dugas will discuss: how to find a form that is comfortable for you; the importance of committing to write every day; caring more about substance than style; and others. She will focus on establishing future goals, problem solving, self-dialogue, personal growth, and tapping into personal creativity.

Reine Dugas, PhD, teaches literature and creative nonfiction classes at Southeastern Louisiana University and frequently travels to Spain and Italy with the school's study abroad program. She has published scholarly essays, edited a collection on Eudora Welty, and written nonfiction pieces on travel and culture.

11 a.m., Saturday Feb. 8, 2020
