Event Type: JP Library Event Age Group(s): Adults Date: 5/7/2024 Start Time: 7:00 PM End Time: 8:30 PM Description: In another life, Taylor Swift might have been a literature professor instead of an award-winning singer, songwriter, and storyteller. The title of Swift's eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department, continues her ongoing interest in the literary arts. This lecture from staff member Dr. Christie Cognevich will explore some of Swift's past literary references from William Wordsworth to Sylvia Plath, along with new allusions throughout the lyrics of her latest release. Come hear about the literary masterminds and tortured poets in Swift's canon, as well as how to think about Swift's lyrics like poetry.
