Napoleon, Metairie.

This event geared for beginning writers, and not for experienced fiction writers. Participants must register on the librarys website. The workshop is designed to instill a love of creative writing and an understanding of the techniques used in creating great fiction. It aims to strengthen the beginning writers powers of imagination and ability to think critically. The workshop will; Introduce students to essential elements of storytelling as characterization, plot/conflict/moral choice, points of view, significant detail, theme, scene-setting/dialog/atmosphere, and style/tone/voice. Acquaint students with the writing philosophies and practices of not only the great masters, but successful contemporary novelists. Assign creative work for critique by classmates. There are 12 workshops. Her four novels are: Waiting for You at Midnight (2018), Candyland (2016), Faulkner & Friends (2014), and A Prayer to St. Jude (2012).
