“This will be an interactive and go beyond just the basic nutrition information but will give the community the tools to become self-sufficient in the grocery store, at home, and wonderful restaurants here in our city,” says Danigole. “The series focuses on ways people can navigate a healthy lifestyle in a city that provides the best food and leisure in the world.”

By attending this course, patrons will be able to:

• Understand what it takes to change a relationship with food when temptations are everywhere. “Participants will look at how to incorporate everyday activities to become more active,” says Danigole. “Bring your favorite recipes. Sample food labels will be provided or bring one and we will understand what it means. We will create grocery lists that are enjoyable and individualized.”
• Patrons will learn strategies to deal with emotional eating and triggers and begin to recognize the difference between cravings and hunger. “Bring your favorite restaurant menu and we will practice mindful choices and behaviors when dining out,” says Danigote.
• Patrons will explore their pasts and how we learned our food habits and what brings us here on this journey for improvement. Bring a notebook for this class.
• “You will learn what a true portion looks like through easy household measures and we will provide tips on behaviors on modifying the way we eat for a lifetime,” says Danigote. “We will take a look at how to deal with our celebrations and festivities in the city or with family that is a part of our life and will continue to be.”
