Looking back, Edwards said she finally understood why she had such a rocky relationship with her father. One, because they were so much alike, and two, because she was bipolar, a diagnosis she didn’t receive until her 40s. She said their relationship was mended before he passed away. “Because I did appreciate him finally, I never really understood after 2013 that he absolutely had my back on everything,” said Edwards.
